Between
finishing my thesis and diving into the campaign headfirst, I was often in dire
need of some serious rest and relaxation. Heading up to Vermont with Dean every
now and then is probably the only thing that kept my sanity.

Keeping with
summer tradition, I dusted off my swim stroke during my end-of-summer trip to
Vermont's "Northeast Kingdom", launching off of the dock at Dean's
camp every day and building up towards a 2 mile lake crossing at the end of our
two-week trip.

One of my favorite discoveries of 2003 has to be
the Weston Priory in central Vermont, a mini-monastery atop a hill.

With all the
chaos of the summer campaign (see "Note from Me"), whatever Sunday
downtime I had was spent relaxing on the beach on Cape Ann and falling asleep 5 pages into a
book.
