New England fall foliage...it may be the only thing that makes New
England winters worth putting up with.

In October I took a trip to Vermont with Dean, Shehong and Zho
Wei (my Chinese Foreign Policy professor and her husband). We stayed at his
quaint little camp on a lake, and ventured out into Vermont's folliage.

October was not just a
month for leaf-peeping (as Vermonters like to call it). It was also the month
that I ran my first long distance race, the Bay State Half Marathon in Lowell,
MA on October 19th. At the start line I ran into a friend from grad
school, who asked me what time I was hoping to finish in. At a distance of 13.1
Miles, I told him I was just praying to finish at all. I finished #307 out
of 673 runners, coming in at 1 hour and 54 minutes.
